SPIE has signed a European framework agreement with Tesla for the implementation of projects using battery energy storage systems (BESS). The agreement, which has a three-year term with the possibility of renewal, covers all SPIE Group's European subsidiaries with expertise in BESS installations.
Energy storage is a key element of the energy transition. It enables better grid integration of electricity generated by wind and solar farms and increases the stability of the electricity system. Using the Tesla Megapack stationary energy storage system, SPIE will provide technical services including engineering, power system operation component tasks (Balance of Plant), connections to the high- and medium-voltage grid, installation of ancillary equipment (security, lighting, fire and video monitoring systems), and commissioning of the plant.
The new framework agreement unifies the legal and operational conditions for all European projects implemented by SPIE using Megapack systems. It covers current activities in France and paves the way for new projects in other countries, in particular Poland and Germany, where Group companies already have proven experience in this field.
SPIE has participated or is currently participating in a number of significant energy storage projects using Tesla Megapack technology, including in Belgium, the Netherlands and France. In doing so, it strengthens its position as market leader for BESS in Europe, ensuring high standards of delivery, supporting customers in decarbonisation and developing a more flexible and resilient energy mix.
The agreement reflects the confidence that a key global player in the energy industry has in SPIE's technical competence and pan-European structure. We have strengthened cooperation between subsidiaries through systematic exchange of experience, allowing us to use local expertise more effectively. By combining our industrial know-how, country presence and shared intellectual resources, we are actively supporting the construction of a more sustainable energy model based on reliability, high performance and efficiency
- said Tobias Zaers, director of business development and marketing at SPIE.
